The student tutor (the "Tutor") reports to the director of development until an assistant dean for students and alumni affairs is in place. The Tutor should have an overall GPA of 3.5, possess good oral and written communication skills and have time available to assist others. The Tutor must be able to work evenings and weekends and be enthusiastic about helping other students. The tutor must not have earned a grade below a B in any course for which they are ask to provide instructional assistance (tutor).

The Tutor is to help the tutoree identify and address his or her academic challenges, establish an immediate rapport with the tutoree, and assist the tutoree by using varying exercises and methods in order to determine how best to help the tutoree improve his or her mastery of the material.

The Tutor will maintain a timesheet to log the time the Tutor spends tutoring another student; the time sheet shall document the date, start time and end time of each session and the name of the students tutored. The hourly rate for all Tutors is $25.00 per hour. The Tutor's total amount of time shall not exceed twenty (20) hours per month. The Tutor shall submit his or her time sheet to his or her supervisor for approval then to the business manager by the 25th day of each month. The tutor must sign each time sheet. Paychecks are issued monthly.

The Tutor will be required to schedule students assigned for tutoring so that they may tutor more than one student at a single session. Tutors should not schedule individual study sessions for more than ten (10) students. Travel time to tutoring sessions and mileage are not compensable. Tutoring schedules should be scheduled at one of the UACP campus locations whenever possible.

Specific expectations and duties of the tutor include:

  1. Be prepared to meet with the tutoree on a regular basis.
  2. Tutor no more than a total twenty (20) hours per month.
  3. Use objectives and procedures that empower the tutoree to work on his or her own.
  4. Be as familiar as possible with the material before meeting with the tutoree.
  5. Bill time tutoring only that time spent assisting the tutoree, not including time the tutoree is working on his or her own.
  6. Demonstrate an active and consistent commitment to a professional and ethical lifestyle.
  7. Maintain confidentiality regarding all matters.
  8. Perform other duties assigned.
