Dr. Tejada completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. His research involved the synthesis and relaxometric studies of macrocyclic chelates as contrast agents for MRI applications and crystal engineering studies of tolane-containing organic crystals for electronic material applications. For his industrial practicum, he worked as an organic/process chemist at Merck & Co., Inc. in New Jersey where his research involved beta-lactam chemistry in both the bench and pilot plant scale.
His postdoctoral research at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy focused on the synthesis and SAR studies of muscarinic agonists for the possible treatment of neurological disorders, such as schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. Aside from the chemistry, he was involved in the various aspects of drug development such as computational, pharmacology and behavioral studies. As a postdoctoral fellow, he has helped in mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. |
